Balance Buddy Privacy Policy

Balance Buddy helps you set limits on distracting apps and websites, and asks a friend you choose (your buddy) before giving you extra time. We collect as little as possible to make that work.

What stays on your iPhone

• The apps and websites you choose to protect. Apple's Screen Time gives Balance Buddy private tokens, not app names, and they never leave your phone.
• Your settings, your buddy's display name and your activity history inside the app.

What reaches our server

• Your buddy's email address, which your buddy types in themselves. It is used only to send them a sign in code, a PIN reset code if they ask for one, and a notice if protection is turned off on your phone.
• Your first name and your buddy's first name, if you add them, so each of you can see who is asking and who is deciding.
• Each request (how long, the optional reason you type, when it was sent) and your buddy's yes or no answer. Only the latest request is kept.
• A random identifier for your phone, a remembered sign in for your buddy's browser, and your buddy's 4 digit PIN, all stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.

What we do not do

• No accounts, no contacts, no location, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites.
• We never sell or share data. Emails are delivered through our email provider, Resend, only to send the messages described above.

Keeping and deleting data

Requests are replaced each time a new one is sent. To delete your buddy's email and all server data, delete the app and email us at support@getbalancebuddy.com. We will delete it within 30 days.

Children

Balance Buddy is not directed at children under 13.
